Hi, I am Dana and I reside in the Sacramento/Folsom area of Northern California, USA.
I have been a licensed Amateur Radio Operator since 1993, but was not new to radio communications. My Initial call sign was KE6DEB and I changed it to a vanity call sign, N6DCP, in December 2019.
1983-1991 I was involved in community services, missing persons investigations and search and rescue management organization. I maintained commercial radio sites, FCC licensing and operated base/mobile and field base communications. This was a very exciting time and many milestones were made. I worked with Federal, State and municipal law enforcement on some major East Coast cases. Nothing since has compared to the accomplishments I made back then.
I obtained my Amateur Radio license because I was an active member of the American Red Cross Disaster Services 1987-1996. As the Communications Coordinator for the Contra Costa County, California Chapter, 1992-1996, and I needed to expand my communications capabilities.
1996-1999 I was the Volunteer Director of Support Services and a communications adviser to CALSTAR (California Shock Trauma Air Rescue). I returned in 2001 to 2006 as a Volunteer Support Services Specialist.
Early 1999 to late 2000 I was the Director of Communications for Air Angles, a critical care medical air and ground transportation service in the Chicagoland vicinity. I designed, assembled and managed the communications center.
2004 - 2005 I was on the City of Davis communications committee for the migration to a Motorola 800 MHz Smartnet trunk radio system.
2008-2016 I managed security operations for an area festival and provided them with commercial communications for security and general operations. I used a Bendix King V-Series Analog/P25 VHF repeater and 12 VHF VX-800 HT's. The repeater was a bit overkill, but I used it because I could.
Today the use of radio is for hobby, fun and volunteering.
I usually can be found on the N6ICW repeater 146.195 +, PL encode 123.0. For more information on this amazing voting receiver repeater system please visit: http://www.n6icw.org/
I am also a licensed GMRS operator and own the Orangevale 725 repeater. I can be found on the GMRS Mountain Top or SHARP repeaters from time to time when I am not on my repeater.
